तावापन्ततौ सहसा दृष्ट्वा राजीवलोचनः।
असंभ्रान्तस्त्वरन्किञ्चित्सज्यं कृत्वा महद्धनुः।
लक्ष्मणं त्वभिसम्प्रेक्ष्य रामो वचनमब्रवीत्॥
tāv āpantatau sahasā dṛṣṭvā rājīva-locanaḥ
asaṁbhrāntas tvaran kiñcit sajyaṁ kṛtvā mahad dhanuḥ
lakṣmaṇaṁ tv abhisamprekṣya rāmo vacanam abravīt
tau āpantatau = they were; rushing towards [the sacrificial arena] sahasā = suddenly; dṛṣṭvā = noticing that; rājīva-locanaḥ = the lotus-eyed Rāma; asaṁbhrāntaḥ = without being bewildered; tvaran kiñcit = hurried a bit; sajyam kṛtvā = and readied; mahat dhanuḥ = His great bow; lakṣmaṇam tu abhisamprekṣya = looking at Lakṣmaṇa; rāmaḥ = Rāma; vacanam abravīt = said the following words.
Noticing that they were suddenly rushing towards [the sacrificial arena], the lotus-eyed Rāma hurried a bit without being bewildered and readied His great bow. Looking at Lakṣmaṇa, Rāma said the following words.
