इत्य् उक्त्वा लक्ष्मणं चाशु लाघवं दर्शयन्निव।
सङ्गृह्यास्त्रं ततो रामो दिव्यमाग्नेयमद्भुतम्।
सुबाहूरसि चिक्षेप स विद्धः प्रापतद्भुवि॥
ity uktvā lakṣmaṇaṁ cāśu lāghavaṁ darśayann iva
saṅgṛhyāstraṁ tato rāmo divyam āgneyam adbhutam
subāhūrasi cikṣepa sa viddhaḥ prāpatad bhuvi
iti uktvā lakṣmaṇam ca = having spoken thus to Lakṣmaṇa; āśu lāghavam darśayan iva = as if demonstrating His archery skills; saṅgṛhya = attached to His bowstring and; astram = weapon; tataḥ = then; rāmaḥ = Rāma; divyam = His divine; āgneyam = Āgneya; adbhutam = wonderfully; subāhu-urasi = on the chest of Subāhu; cikṣepa = released it; saḥ = Subāhu; viddhaḥ = struck by that arrow; prāpatat bhuvi = fell on the ground.
Having spoken thus to Lakṣmaṇa, as if demonstrating His archery skills, Rāma then attached His divine Āgneya weapon to His bowstring and wonderfully released it on the chest of Subāhu. Struck by that arrow, Subāhu fell on the ground.
