Chapter 30: Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa Protect Viśvāmitra’s Sacrifice

अद्यप्रभृति षड्रात्रं रक्षतं राघवौ युवाम्।
दीक्षां गतो ह्येष मुनिर्मौनित्वं च गमिष्यति॥
adya-prabhṛti ṣaḍ-rātraṁ rakṣataṁ rāghavau yuvām
dīkṣāṁ gato hy eṣa munir maunitvaṁ ca gamiṣyati
adya-prabhṛti = from today; ṣaḍ-rātram = to six nights from now; rakṣatam = should protect the sacrifice; rāghavau = [they said:] O descendants of Raghu; yuvām = You two; dīkṣām gataḥ hi = for he has undergone the preparation for the sacrifice; eṣaḥ = this; muniḥ = sage; maunitvam ca gamiṣyati = will become silent.
[They said:] O descendants of Raghu, You two should protect the sacrifice from today up to six nights from now. This sage will become silent for he has undergone the preparation for the sacrifice.
The sages implied that they will speak [on his behalf until the end of the sacrifice].
