Chapter 34: Satyavatī, Viśvāmitra’s Elder Sister

कृतोद्वाहे गते तस्मिन्ब्रह्मदत्ते च राघव।
अपुत्रः पुत्रलाभाय पौत्रीमिष्टिमकल्पयत्॥
kṛtodvāhe gate tasmin brahmadatte ca rāghava
aputraḥ putra-lābhāya pautrīm iṣṭim akalpayat
kṛta-udvāhe gate = got married; tasmin brahmadatte ca = when Brahmadatta; rāghava = O descendant of Raghu; aputraḥ = Kuśanabha, who was sonless; putra-lābhāya = in order to attain a son; pautrīm iṣṭim = the Putrṭeṣī sacrifice; akalpayat = performed.
O descendant of Raghu, when Brahmadatta got married, Kuśanābha who was sonless performed the Putreṣṭī sacrifice in order to attain a son.
Śrī Viśvāmitra had described the marriage of Kuśanābha’s daughters incidently. Now that that description is over, he resumes his description of his dynasty in this chapter.
