Chapter 34: Satyavatī, Viśvāmitra’s Elder Sister

इष्ट्यां च वर्तमानायां कुशनाभं महीपतिम्।
उवाच परमोदारः कुशो ब्रह्मसुतस्तदा॥
iṣṭyāṁ ca vartamānāyāṁ kuśanābhaṁ mahī-patim
uvāca paramodāraḥ kuśo brahma-sutas tadā
iṣṭyām ca vartamānāyām = when the Putreṣṭī sacrifice was going on; kuśanābham mahī-patim = to King Kuśanābha; uvāca = spoke as follows; parama-udāraḥ = the greatly generous; kuśaḥ = Kuśanābha’s father Kuśa; brahma-sutaḥ = son of Brahmā; tadā = at that time.
At that time when the Putreṣṭī sacrifice was going on, Kuśanābha’s father, Kuśa, the greatly generous son of Brahmā, spoke to King Kuśanābha as follows.
