Chapter 34: Satyavatī, Viśvāmitra’s Elder Sister
Text 1.34.10
ततोऽहं हिमवत्पार्श्वे वसामि नियतः सुखम्।
भगिन्यां स्नेहसंयुक्तः कौशिक्यां रघुनन्दन॥
tato ’haṁ himavat-pārśve vasāmi niyataḥ sukham
bhaginyāṁ sneha-saṁyuktaḥ kauśikyāṁ raghu-nandana
tataḥ = because she took the shelter of Himālayas; aham = I; himavat-pārśve = near the Himalayas; vasāmi niyataḥ sukham = happily lead a regulated life; bhaginyām = for my elder sister; sneha-saṁyuktaḥ = out of affection for; kauśikyām = Kauśikī; raghu-nandana = O beloved child of the Raghus.
O beloved child of the Raghus, because she took shelter of the Himalayas, out of affection for my elder sister Kauśikī, I happily lead a regulated life near the Himalayas.
