Chapter 35: The History of Gaṅga

एवमुक्तस्तु रामेण विश्वामित्रोऽब्रवीदिदम्।
एष पन्था मयोद्दिष्टो येन यान्ति महर्षयः॥
evam uktas tu rāmeṇa viśvāmitro ’bravīd idam
eṣa panthā mayoddiṣṭo yena yānti maha-rṣayaḥ
evam = this; uktaḥ tu = when asked; rāmeṇa = Rāma; viśvāmitraḥ = Viśvāmitra; abravīt = spoke; idam = as follows; eṣaḥ = that; panthā = the path; mayā uddiṣṭaḥ = I have ascertained as; yena = through which; yānti = traverse this river; mahā-ṛṣayaḥ = great sages.
When Rāma asked this, Viśvāmitra said: “I have ascertained the path as that through which great sages traverse this river.”
