Canto 1 - Boyhood
Bāla-kāṇḍa
Chapter 36: Umā Curses the Demigods
Text 1.36.12

न लोका धारयिष्यन्ति तव तेजः सुरोत्तम।
ब्राह्मेण तपसा युक्तो देव्या सह तपश्चर॥

na lokā dhārayiṣyanti tava tejaḥ surottama
brāhmeṇa
tapasā yukto devyā saha tapaś cara

na lokāḥ = nobody; dhārayiṣyanti = can bare; tava tejaḥ = the son born of your prowess; sura-uttama = O best of the demigods; brāhmeṇa tapasā = the Vedic austerities of yoga; yuktaḥ devyā saha = [therefore] along with goddess Umā; tapaḥ cara = perform.

O best of the demigods, nobody can bear the son born of your prowess. Therefore, along with goddess Umā, perform the Vedic austerities of yoga.

The demigods implied that Lord Śiva should not release his powerful semen in the womb of Pārvatī.
