Chapter 37: The History of Skanda
Text 1.37.12
देवकार्यमिदं देव संविधत्स्व हुताशन।
शैलपुत्र्यां महातेजो गङ्गायां तेज उत्सृज॥
deva-kāryam idaṁ deva saṁvidhatsva hutāśana
śaila-putryāṁ mahā-tejo gaṅgāyāṁ teja utsṛja
deva-kāryam = mission of the demigods; idam = the; deva = O Lord; saṁvidhatsva = kindly carry out; huta-aśana = Agni; śaila-putryām = the daughter of Himavān; mahā-tejaḥ = O one of great prowess; gaṅgāyām = on Gaṅgā; tejaḥ = a powerful semen of Lord Śiva; utsṛja = please place.
O Agnideva, kindly carry out the mission of the demigods. O one of great prowess, please place the powerful semen [of Lord Śiva] on Gaṅgā, the daughter of Himavān.
