Chapter 37: The History of Skanda
Text 1.37.17

अथाब्रवीदिदं गङ्गा सर्वदेवहुताशनः।
इह हैमवते पादे गर्भोऽयं सन्निवेश्यताम्॥

athābravīd idaṁ gaṅgā sarva-deva-hutāśanaḥ
iha
haimavate pāde garbho ‘yaṁ sanniveśyatām

atha = then; abravīt = told; idam = thus; gaṅgām = Gaṅgā; sarva-deva-huta-aśanaḥ = Agni who consumes the oblations offered to all the devas; iha = here; haimavate pāde = on the slope of the Himālaya mountain; garbhaḥ ayam = this powerful semen; sanniveśyatām = let be placed.

Agni who consumes the oblations offered to all the devas then told Gaṅgā thus: Let this powerful semen be placed on the slope of the Himālaya mountain here.

Agni had burnt an area of the Himālaya mountain by placing Lord Śiva’s powerful semen there. That portion had become a white mountain. Agni requested Gaṅgā to place Lord Śiva’s semen there.
