यदस्या निर्गतं तस्मात् तप्तजाम्बूनदप्रभम्।
काञ्चनं धरणीं प्राप्तं हिरण्यममलं शुभम्॥
ताम्रं काऋष्णायसं चैव तैक्ष्ण्यादेवाभ्यजायत।
मलं तस्याभवत्तत्र त्रपु सीसकमेव च॥
yad asyā nirgataṁ tasmāt tapta-jāmbūnada-prabham
kāñcanaṁ dharaṇīṁ prāptaṁ hiraṇyam amalaṁ śubham
tāmraṁ kāṛṣṇāyasaṁ caiva taikṣṇyād evābhyajāyata
malaṁ tasyābhavat tatra trapu sīsakam eva ca
yat asyāḥ nirgatam = whatever came out of Gaṅgā; tasmāt tapta-jāmbūnada-prabham = was endowed with the brilliance of molten gold; kāñcanam = gold; dharaṇīm = the earth; prāptam = when it touched; hiraṇyam = silver [were produced]; amalam = spotless; śubham = an auspicious; tāmram = copper; kāṛṣṇāyasam ca eva = and iron; taikṣṇyāt eva = due to the sharpness of the prowess; abhyajāyata = were produced; malam tasya = the contamination; abhavat tatra = produced; trapu sīsakam eva ca = tin and lead.
Whatever came out of Gaṅgā was endowed with the brilliance of molten gold. When it touched the earth, spotless gold and auspicious silver were produced. Due to the sharpness of the prowess, copper and iron were produced. The contamination produced tin and lead.
“Whatever came out of Gaṅgā” was blood and so on.
