एकः कस्याः सुतो ब्रह्मन्का बहूञ्जनयिष्यति।
श्रोतुमिच्छावहे ब्रह्मन्सत्यमस्तु वचस्तव॥
ekaḥ kasyāḥ suto brahman kā bahūñ janayiṣyati
śrotum icchāvahe brahman satyam astu vacas tava
ekaḥ = one; kasyāḥ = who will have; sutaḥ = son; brahman = O brāhmaṇa; kā = who; bahūn = to many; janayiṣyati = will give birth; śrotum = to hear [of this from you]; icchāvahe = we wish; brahman = O brāhmaṇa; satyam astu = may come true; vacaḥ = words; tava = your.
O brāhmaṇa, who will have one son, and who will give birth to many? O brāhmaṇa, we wish to hear [of this from you.] May your words come true.
