Chapter 39: Sagara’s Sons Search for the Sacrificial Horse
Text 1.39.11
उपाध्यायवचः श्रुत्वा तस्मिन्सदसि पार्थिवः।
षष्टिं पुत्रसहस्राणि वाक्यमेतदुवाच ह॥
upādhyāya-vacaḥ śrutvā tasmin sadasi pārthivaḥ
ṣaṣṭiṁ putra-sahasrāṇi vākyam etad uvāca ha
upādhyāya-vacaḥ śrutvā = upon hearing the words of the priests; tasmin sadasi = in the sacrifice; pārthivaḥ = in Sagara; ṣaṣṭim putra-sahasrāṇi = to his sixty thousand sons; vākyam etat = the following words; uvāca ha = spoke.
Upon hearing the words of the priests in the sacrifice, King Sagara spoke the following words to his 60,000 sons.
