Chapter 39: Sagara’s Sons Search for the Sacrificial Horse
Text 1.39.4

शङ्करश्वशुरो नाम हिमवानचलोत्तमः।
विन्ध्यपर्वतमासाद्य निरीक्षेते परस्परम्॥

śaṅkara-śvaśuro nāma himavān acalottamaḥ
vindhya-parvatam
āsādya nirīkṣete parasparam

śaṅkara-śvaśuraḥ = Śaṅkara’s father-in-law; nāma = named; himavān = Himavān; acala uttamaḥ = was the presiding deity of the best of mountains; vindhya-parvatam āsādya = it reached up to the Vindhya mountain in height; nirīkṣete parasparam = both of these mountains were viewable from each other.

Śaṅkara’s father-in-law named Himavān was the presiding deity of the best of mountains. It reached up to the Vindhya mountain in height. Both of these mountains were viewable from each other.
