Chapter 4: Kuśa and Lava Meet Lord Rāmacandra
Text 1.4.22
बृसीमन्यस्तदा प्रादात्कौपीनमपरो मुनिः।
ताभ्यां ददौ तदा हृष्टः कुठारमपरो मुनिः॥
bṛsīm anyas tadā prādāt kaupīnam aparo muniḥ
tābhyāṁ dadau tadā hṛṣṭaḥ kuṭhāram aparo muniḥ
bṛsīm = a grass seat; anyaḥ = one; tadā prādāt = gave them; kaupīnam= [gave] a kaupīna; aparaḥ = another; muniḥ = sage; tābhyām = by them; dadau = gave; tadā hṛṣṭaḥ = delighted; kuṭhāram = an axe; aparaḥ = and yet another; muniḥ = sage.
One gave them a grass seat. Another sage gave a kaupīna. And yet another, delighted by them, gave an axe.1
