Chapter 4: Kuśa and Lava Meet Lord Rāmacandra
Text 1.4.23

काषायमपरो वस्त्रं चीरमन्यो ददौ मुनिः।
जटाबन्धनमन्यस्तु काष्ठरज्जुं मुदान्वितः॥

kāṣāyam aparo vastraṁ cīram anyo dadau muniḥ
jaṭā-bandhanam anyas tu kāṣṭha-rajjuṁ mudānvitaḥ

kāṣāyam = gave a saffron; aparaḥ =another; vastram = cloth; cīram = a strip of bark; anyaḥ = another; dadau = gave; muniḥ = a sage; jaṭā-bandhanam = gave them a ribbon to tie their matted hair; anyaḥ = another; tu = and; kāṣṭha-rajjum = and a rope to tie the sacrificial wood; mudā anvitaḥ = delightfully.

Another gave a saffron cloth. Another, a sage, gave a strip of bark. Another delightfully gave them a ribbon to tie their matted hair and a rope to tie the sacrificial wood.
