Canto 1 - Boyhood
Bāla-kāṇḍa
Chapter 4: Kuśa and Lava Meet Lord Rāmacandra
Text 1.4.27

अभिगीतमिदं गीतं सर्वगीतेषु कोविदौ।
आयुष्यं पुष्टिजनकं सर्वश्रुतिमनोहरम्॥

abhigītam idaṁ gītaṁ sarva-gīteṣu kovidau
āyuṣyaṁ puṣṭi-janakaṁ sarva-śruti-mano-haram

abhigītam = [and] beautifully sung; idam = this; gītam = song; sarva-gīteṣu = in all kinds of songs; kovidau -= O you two expert; āyuṣyam = increases longevity; puṣṭi-janakam = is nourishing; sarva-śruti-mano-haram = charming with all constituents of sound.

“O you two expert in all kinds of songs, this song increases longevity, is nourishing, charming with all constituents of sound and beautifully sung.”

The song sung by them, the Rāmāyaṇa, increases the life span, but what is the use of merely being awarded a meager span of life? Therefore, they said that the singing of Kuśa and Lava grants nourishment. It was sarva-śruti-mano-haram: charming with all constituents of sound that give rise to appropriate svaras. Abhigītam can also indicate that this song is the most worshipable of all songs.
