Canto 1 - Boyhood
Bāla-kāṇḍa
Chapter 4: Kuśa and Lava Meet Lord Rāmacandra
Text 1.4.32

श्रूयतामिदमाख्यानमनयोर्देववर्चसोः।
विचित्रार्थपदं सम्यग्गायिनौ तावचोदयत्॥

śrūyatām idam ākhyānam anayor deva-varcasoḥ
vicitrārtha-padaṁ samyag-gāyinau tāv acodayat

śrūyatām = listen to; idam = this; ākhyānam = history; anayoḥ = from these; deva-varcasoḥ = with efflugence of devas; vicitra-artha-padam = filled with interesting facts and words; samyak-gāyinau = perfect singers; tau = those two; acodayat = he then requested.

“Listen to this history filled with interesting facts and words from these two with the effulgence of the devas!” He then requested those two perfect singers to sing.

Kuśa and Lava were as effulgent as the devas. It is implied that such affluence of beauty is an ingredient for relishing the song of the Rāmāyaṇa which is charming both while recited and sung.
