Chapter 40: Lord Kapila Punishes Sagara’s Sons
Text 1.40.4
पृथिव्याश्चापि निर्भेदो दृष्ट एव सनातनः।
सगरस्य च पुत्राणां विनाशोऽदीर्घजीविनाम्॥
pṛthivyāś cāpi nirbhedo dṛṣṭa eva sanātanaḥ
sagarasya ca putrāṇāṁ vināśo ’dīrgha-jīvinām
pṛthivyāḥ ca api nirbhedaḥ = that the earth will be divided; dṛṣṭaḥ eva = it has already been ascertained; sanātanaḥ = in every kalpa; sagarasya ca = and that Sagara’s; putrāṇām vināśaḥ = sons will be destroyed; adīrgha-jīvinām = who are not destined to live long.
It has already been ascertained that the earth will be divided in every kalpa and that Sagara’s sons, who are not destined to live long, will be destroyed.
Because the earth is scheduled to be divided in every kalpa, there is no need to worry about that.
