Chapter 40: Lord Kapila Punishes Sagara’s Sons
Text 1.40.5

पितामहःवचः श्रुत्वा त्रयस्त्रिंशदरिन्दम।
देवाः परमसंहृष्टाः पुनर्जग्मुर्यथागतम्॥

pitāmahaḥ-vacaḥ śrutvā trayas-triṁśad arindama
devāḥ
parama-saṁhṛṣṭāḥ punar jagmur yathāgatam

pitāmahaḥ-vacaḥ śrutvā = hearing the words of grandfather Brahmā; trayaḥ-triṁśat = the thirty-three; arindama = O destroyer of the foes; devāḥ = demigods and others; parama-saṁhṛṣṭāḥ = with great happiness; punaḥ jagmuḥ = returned to their respective abodes; yathā āgatam = just as they had come.

O destroyer of the foes, hearing the words of Grandfather Brahmā, the thirty-three demigods and others returned with great happiness to their respective abodes just as they had come.

The thirty-three demigods are the eight Vasus, eleven Rudras, twelve Ādityas and two Aśvinas. Others such as the gandharvas had accompanied these demigods to beseech Lord Brahmā.
