Chapter 42: Bhagīratha’s Austerities for Gaṅgā’s Descent

अगत्वा निश्चयं राजा तेषामुद्धरणं प्रति।
व्याधिना नरशार्दूल कालधर्ममुपेयिवान्॥
agatvā niścayaṁ rājā teṣām uddharaṇaṁ prati
vyādhinā nara-śārdūla kāla-dharmam upeyivān
agatvā niścayam = not having come to a conclusion; rājā = the king; teṣām uddharaṇam prati = regarding the deliverance of his grandfathers; vyādhinā = due to disease; nara-śārdūla = O tiger among men; kāla-dharmam upeyivān = succumbed to death.
O tiger among men, not having come to a conclusion regarding the deliverance of his grandfathers, the king succumbed to death due to disease.
