Chapter 43: Gaṅgā Descends to the Earth
Text 1.43.23

तदद्भुततमं लोके गङ्गापतनमुत्तमम्।
दिदृक्षवो देवगणाः समीयुरमितौजसः॥

tad adbhutatamaṁ loke gaṅgā-patanam uttamam
didṛkṣavo
deva-gaṇāḥ samīyur amitaujasaḥ

tat adbhutatamam = a most astonishing; loke = to Bhū-loka (earth); gaṅgā-patanam = the fall of Gaṅgā; uttamam = excellence; didṛkṣavaḥ = desiring to see; deva-gaṇāḥ = demigods; samīyuḥ = approached [that place]; amita-ojasaḥ = of immeasurable prowess.

Desiring to see the fall of Gaṅgā to Bhū-loka (earth), a most astonishing excellence, demigods of immeasurable prowess approached [that place].

“Demigods of immeasurable prowess” refers to the principal demigods.
