Chapter 43: Gaṅgā Descends to the Earth
Text 1.43.45
अथ तद्भस्मनां राशिं गङ्गा सलिलमुत्तमम्।
प्लावयद्धूतपाप्मानः स्वर्गं प्राप्ता रघूत्तम॥
atha tad bhasmanāṁ rāśiṁ gaṅgā salilam uttamam
plāvayad dhūta-pāpmānaḥ svargaṁ prāptā raghūttama
atha = then; tat = the; bhasmanām rāśim = ashes; gaṅgā = Gaṅgā; salilam = water; uttamam = with her excellent; plāvayat = flooded; dhūta-pāpmānaḥ = now purified of their sinful reactions; svargam = Svarga; prāptāḥ = [the sons of Sagara] attained; raghu-uttama = O best of the Raghus.
Then Gaṅgā flooded the ashes with her excellent water. O best of the Raghus, [the sons of Sagara], now purified of their sinful reactions, attained Svarga.
