Chapter 45: The Churning of the Milk Ocean
Text 1.45.37
दितेः पुत्रा न तां राम जगृहुर्वरुणात्मजाम्।
अदितेस्तु सुता वीर जगृहुस्तामनिन्दिताम्॥
diteḥ putrā na tāṁ rāma jagṛhur varuṇātmajām
adites tu sutā vīra jagṛhus tām aninditām
diteḥ = Diti’s; putrāḥ = sons; na = not; tām = the; rāma = O Rāma; jagṛhuḥ = did accept; varuṇa-ātmajām = daughter of Varuṇa; aditeḥ = Aditi’s; tu = however; sutāḥ = sons; vīra = O hero; jagṛhuḥ = accepted; tām = her; aninditām = for she was beyond censure.
O Rāma, Diti’s sons did not accept the daughter of Varuṇa. O hero, Aditi’s sons, however, accepted her for she was beyond censure.1
