Chapter 46: Diti’s vow to kill Indra
Text 1.46.12
अथ वर्षसहस्रे तु दशोने रघुनन्दन।
दितिः परमसम्प्रीता सहस्राक्षमथाब्रवीत्॥
atha varṣa-sahasre tu daśone raghu-nandana
ditiḥ parama-samprītā sahasrākṣam athābravīt
atha varṣa-sahasre tu daśa-ūne = when ten years remained out of the thousand years [of austerity]; raghu-nandana = O beloved descendant of Raghu; ditiḥ = Diti; parama-samprītā = fully pleased with Indra; sahasra-akṣam = him; atha abravīt = told as follows.
O beloved descendant of Raghu, when ten years remained out of the thousand years [of austerity], Diti, fully pleased with Indra, told him as follows.
