Chapter 46: Diti’s vow to kill Indra
Text 1.46.14
तपश्चरन्त्या वर्षाणि दश वीर्यवतां वर।
अवशिष्टानि भद्रं ते भ्रातरं द्रक्ष्यसे ततः॥
tapaś carantyā varṣāṇi daśa vīryavatāṁ vara
avaśiṣṭāni bhadraṁ te bhrātaraṁ drakṣyase tataḥ
tapaḥ-carantyā varṣāṇi daśa = I have ten years of austerity; vīryavatām = of the heroic; vara = O best; avaśiṣṭāni = more; bhadram te = may there be auspiciousness unto you; bhrātaram = a brother; drakṣyase = you will see; tataḥ = then.
O best of the heroic, I have ten more years of austerity. May there be auspiciousness unto you. You will then see a brother.
