ब्रह्मलोकं चरन्त्वेक इन्द्रलोकं तथापरः।
दिवि वायुरिति ख्यातस्तृतीयोऽपि महायशाः॥

brahma-lokaṁ carantv eka indra-lokaṁ tathāparaḥ
divi
vāyur iti khyātas tṛtīyo ’pi mahā-yaśāḥ

brahma-lokam carantu ekaḥ = may one wander in Brahmaloka; indra-lokam tathā aparaḥ= another in Indra-loka; divi vāyuḥ iti khyātaḥ = known as Vāyu in the sky; tṛtīyaḥ api = and the third Māruta; mahā-yaśāḥ = of great fame.

May one wander in Brahmaloka, another in Indra-loka and the third Māruta known as Vāyu of great fame in the sky.

Where can these seven Mārutas live? Who can provide their residence and protect them? The answer to these questions are set out from this verse. Divi indicates that Vāyu resides in the sky of Viṣṇuloka known as Viṣṇupada.
