Chapter 48: Gautama Curses Ahalyā
Text 34

यदा चैतद्वनं घोरं रामो दशरथात्मजः।
आगमिष्यति दुर्धर्षस्तदा पूता भविष्यसि॥

yadā caitad vanaṁ ghoraṁ rāmo daśarathātmajaḥ
āgamiṣyati
durdharṣas tadā pūtā bhaviṣyasi

yadā ca = when; etat vanam ghoram = to this terrible forest; rāmaḥ = Rāma; daśaratha-ātmajaḥ = the son of Daśaratha; āgamiṣyati = comes; durdharṣaḥ = the unconquerable; tadā pūtā bhaviṣyasi = you will become pure [by touching the dust of His lotus feet].

When the unconquerable Rāma, the son of Daśaratha, comes to this terrible forest, you will become pure [by touching the dust of His lotus feet].

That Ahalyā will become pure [by touching the dust of Lord Rāma’s lotus feet] indicates that mere atonement for several years should not be equated with even a partial touch of the dust of the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
