Chapter 51: King Viśvāmitra Arrives at Vasiṣṭha’s Āśrama
Text 1.51.11
नातिक्रान्तं मुनिश्रेष्ठ यत्कर्तव्यं कृतं मया।
सङ्गता मुनिना पत्नी भार्गवेणेव रेणुका॥
nātikrāntaṁ muni-śreṣṭha yat kartavyaṁ kṛtaṁ mayā
saṅgatā muninā patnī bhārgaveṇeva reṇukā
na atikrāntam = I have not wasted any time; muni-śreṣṭha = O best of sages; yat kartavyam kṛtam mayā = I have done all that needs to be done on time; saṅgatā muninā patnī = the sage’s wife has been united with him; bhārgaveṇ iva reṇukā = just as Reṇukā was with Bhṛgu’s son Jamadagni.
O best of sages, I have not wasted any time. I have done all that needs to be done on time. The sage’s wife has been united with him, just as Reṇukā was with Bhṛgu’s son Jamadagni.
The second sentence above explains the first sentence. The third sentence explains the second sentence. Reṇukā is the mother of Paraśurāma.
