Chapter 51: King Viśvāmitra Arrives at Vasiṣṭha’s Āśrama
Text 1.51.6
अपि रामाय कथितं यथा वृत्तं पुरातनम्।
मम मातुर्महातेजो दैवेन दुरनुष्ठितम्॥
api rāmāya kathitaṁ yathā vṛttaṁ purātanam
mama mātur mahā-tejo daivena duranuṣṭhitam
api rāmāya kathitam = have you told Rāma; yathā vṛttam purātanam = the ancient history; mama mātuḥ = of my mother; mahā-tejaḥ = O Viśvāmitra of great prowess; daivena duranuṣṭhitam = when she was wronged by Indra.
O Viśvāmitra of great prowess, have you told Rāma the ancient history of my mother when she was wronged by Indra?
Daivena duranuṣṭhitam also indicates that Ahalyā was made to do wrong by providence.
