Chapter 55: King Viśvāmitra Obtains Divine Weapons
Text 1.55.12
स गत्वा हिमवत्पार्श्वे किन्नरोरगसेवितम्।
महादेवप्रसादार्थं तपस्तेपे महातपाः॥
sa gatvā himavat-pārśve kinnaroraga-sevitam
mahādeva-prasādārthaṁ tapas tepe mahā-tapāḥ
saḥ = he; gatvā = went to; himavat-pārśve = a place near the Himālayas; kinnara uraga-sevitam = inhabited by kinnaras and serpents; mahādeva-prasāda-artham = in order to satisfy Lord Mahādeva; tapaḥ tepe = performed austerities; mahā-tapāḥ = that greatly austere person.
He went to a place near the Himālayas inhabited by kinnaras and serpents. That greatly austere person performed austerities in order to satisfy Lord Mahādeva.
