Chapter 55: King Viśvāmitra Obtains Divine Weapons
Text 19
प्राप्य चास्त्राणि राजर्षिर्विश्वामित्रो महाबलः।
दर्पेण महता युक्तो दर्पपूर्नोऽभवत् तदा॥
prāpya ca = having obtained; astrāṇi = those weapons; rāja-ṛṣiḥ = the royal saint; viśvāmitraḥ = Viśvāmitra; mahā-balaḥ = of great strength; darpeṇa mahatā yuktaḥ = endowed with great pride; darpa-pūrnaḥ abhavat = became swollen with insolence; tadā = then.
Having obtained those weapons, the royal saint Viśvāmitra of great strength, endowed with great pride, then became swollen with insolence.
Viśvāmitra had been [previously] proud because of being a kṣatriya and so on. Now that he had attained special weapons [from Mahādeva], he became swollen with insolence.
