Chapter 58: King Triśaṅku Cursed
Text 1.58.1

ततस्त्रिशङ्कोर्वचनं श्रुत्वा क्रोधसमन्वितम्।
ऋषिपुत्रशतं राम राजानमिदमब्रवीत्॥

tatas triśaṅkor vacanaṁ śrutvā krodha-samanvitam
ṛṣi-putra-śataṁ
rāma rājānam idam abravīt

tataḥ triśaṅkoḥ vacanam śrutvā = hearing Triśaṅku’s words; krodha-samanvitam = filled with anger; ṛṣi-putra-śatam = the hundred sons of the sage Vasiṣṭha; rāma = O Rāma; rājānam = to the king; idam = these words; abravīt = spoke.

O Rāma, hearing Triśaṅku’s words, the hundred sons of the sage Vasiṣṭha spoke these words filled with anger to the king.

The author reveals the result of those who abandon a [bona fide] spiritual master in this chapter.
