Chapter 59: Viśvāmitra Assures Triśaṅku
Text 1.59.4
गुरुशापकृतं रूपं यदिदं त्वयि वर्तते।
अनेन सह रूपेण सशरीरो गमिष्यसि॥
guru-śāpa-kṛtaṁ rūpaṁ yad idaṁ tvayi vartate
anena saha rūpeṇa saśarīro gamiṣyasi
guru-śāpa-kṛtam rūpam = that you have now by the curse of your gurus; yat idam tvayi vartate = in the same form; anena saha rūpeṇa = in your body; sa-śarīraḥ gamiṣyasi = I will send you to Svarga.
I will send you to Svarga in your body in the same form that you have now by the curse of your gurus.
Viśvāmitra emphasized that he would send Triśaṅku in the same form to Svarga. Though it is a fact that Triśaṅku had attained the form of a caṇḍāla by the curse of the sages and it could not be undone even by Lord Brahmā, Viśvāmitra would send him to Svarga through a sacrifice enriched by the glorious power of his austerities and thus neutralize the disadvantage caused by Triśaṅku’s status as a jāti-caṇḍāla.
