Chapter 61: Śunaḥśepa Sold
Text 1.61.4
एवमुक्त्वा महातेजाः पुष्करेषु महामुनिः।
तप उग्रं दुराधर्षं तेपे मूलफलाशनः॥
evam uktvā mahā-tejāḥ puṣkareṣu mahā-muniḥ
tapa ugraṁ durādharṣaṁ tepe mūla-phalāśanaḥ
evam uktvā = having said this; mahā-tejāḥ = of great prowess; puṣkareṣu = on the banks of Puṣkara Lake; mahā-muniḥ = that great sage; tapaḥ = austerities; ugram = terrible; durādharṣam = and intolerable; tepe = began to perform; mūla-phala-aśanaḥ = while subsisting on fruits and roots.
Having said this, that great sage of great prowess began to perform terrible and intolerable austerities while subsisting on fruits and roots on the banks of Puṣkara Lake.
