उवाचात्महितं वाक्यमहितं कौशिकस्य च॥
rambhām apsarasaṁ śakraḥ saha sarvaiḥ marudgaṇaiḥ
uvācātma-hitaṁ vākyam ahitaṁ kauśikasya ca
rambhām = Rambhā; apsarasam = to the apsarā; śakraḥ = Indra; saha sarvaiḥ marut-gaṇaiḥ = with all the Maruts; uvāca = spoke; atma-hitam = to his advantage; vākyam = the following words; ahitam = disadvantage; kauśikasya ca = and Viśvāmitra’s.
With all the Maruts, Indra spoke the following words to the apsarā Rambhā to his advantage and Viśvāmitra’s disadvantage.
Indra wanted to remove Viśvāmitra’s aversion to sense objects, and therefore he sent Rambhā.
