Chapter 64: Viśvāmitra Falls Prey to Anger
Text 1.64.1
सुरकार्यमिदं रम्भे कर्तव्यं सुमहत्त्वया।
लोभनं कौशिकस्येह काममोहसमन्वितम्॥
sura-kāryam idaṁ rambhe kartavyaṁ sumahat tvayā
lobhanaṁ kauśikasyeha kāma-moha-samanvitam
sura-kāryam = for the sake of the demigods; idam = this; rambhe = O Rambhā; kartavyam = should accomplish; sumahat = very great task; tvayā = you; lobhanam = of alluring; kauśikasya = Kauśika; iha = now; kāma-moha-samanvitam = with lust and delusion.
O Rambhā, you should now accomplish this very great task of alluring Kauśika with lust and delusion for the sake of the demigods.
This chapter describes Rambhā’s obstacles to Viśvāmitra’s austerities.
Kāma-moha-samanvitam indicates that she should allure him with mental confusion due to lust.
