Chapter 64: Viśvāmitra Falls Prey to Anger
Text 1.64.17

कोपेन सुमहातेजास्तपोऽपहरणे कृते।
इन्द्रियैरजितै राम न लेभे शान्तिमात्मनः॥

kopena sumahā-tejās tapo-’paharaṇe kṛte
indriyair
ajitai rāma na lebhe śāntim ātmanaḥ

kopena = by his anger; su-mahā-tejāḥ = that sage of very great prowess; tapaḥ-apaharaṇe kṛte = when his austerity had been stolen; indriyaiḥ = senses; ajitaiḥ = due to his uncontrolled; rāma = O Rāma; na = not; lebhe = did attain; śāntim ātmanaḥ = any peace of mind.

O Rāma, when his austerity had been stolen by his anger due to his uncontrolled senses, that sage of very great prowess did not attain any peace of mind.

Viśvāmitra’s senses were not under his control because he was overcome by lust and anger as described above. He did not attain any peace of mind, that is, he was not relieved of his repentence.
