अहं विशोषयिष्यामि ह्य् आत्मानं विजितेन्द्रियः।
तावद्यावद्धि मे प्राप्तं ब्राह्मण्यं तपसार्जितम्।
अनुच्छ्वसन्नभुञ्जानस्तिष्ठेयं शाश्वतीः समाः॥
ahaṁ viśoṣayiṣyāmi hy ātmānaṁ vijitendriyaḥ
tāvad yāvad dhi me prāptaṁ brāhmaṇyaṁ tapasārjitam
anucchvasann abhuñjānas tiṣṭheyaṁ śāśvatīḥ samāḥ
aham = I; viśoṣayiṣyāmi hi = shall dry up; ātmānam = my body; vijita-indriyaḥ = controlling my senses; tāvat yāvat hi = until; me prāptam = I attain; brāhmaṇyam = the status of a brāhmaṇa; tapasā ārjitam = that is earned through austerities; anucchvasann = without exhaling; abhuñjānaḥ = and eating; tiṣṭheyam = I will stay; śāśvatīḥ samāḥ = for innumerable years.
Controlling my senses, I shall dry up my body. I will stay without exhaling and eating for innumerable years until I attain the status of a brāhmaṇa that is earned through austerities.
