Chapter 67: Lord Rāma Breaks Lord Śiva’s bow
Text 1.67.3
जनकेन समादिष्टाः सचिवाः प्राविशन्पुरीम्।
तद्धनुः पुरतः कृत्वा निर्जग्मुः पार्थिवाज्ञया॥
janakena samādiṣṭāḥ sacivāḥ prāviśan purīm
tad dhanuḥ purataḥ kṛtvā nirjagmuḥ pārthivājñayā
janakena = by Janaka; samādiṣṭāḥ = ordered; sacivāḥ = those officers; prāviśan = entered; purīm = the city; tat = the; dhanuḥ = the bow; purataḥ kṛtvā = in front of them; nirjagmuḥ = they came out with; pārthiva-ājñayā = and as per the king’s order.
Ordered by Janaka, those officers entered the city. And as per the king’s order, they came out with the bow in front of them.
