Chapter 67: Lord Rāma Breaks Lord Śiva’s bow
Text 1.67.5
तामादाय तु मञ्जूषामायसीं यत्र तद्धनुः।
सुरोपमं ते जनकमूचुर्नृपतिमन्त्रिणः॥
tām ādāya tu mañjūṣām āyasīṁ yatra tad dhanuḥ
suropamaṁ te janakam ūcur nṛ-pati-mantriṇaḥ
tām = that; ādāya tu = having brought; mañjūṣām = box; āyasīm = iron; yatra tat dhanuḥ = containing the bow; sura-upamam = who was comparable to a demigod; te = the; janakam = Janaka; ūcuḥ = told as follows; nṛ-pati-mantriṇaḥ = king’s ministers.
Having brought that iron box containing the bow, the king’s ministers told Janaka who was comparable to a demigod as follows.
