Chapter 7: King Daśaratha’s Ministers
Text 1.7.11
कोशसङ्ग्रहणे युक्ता बलस्य च परिग्रहे।
अहितं वापि पुरुषं न विहिंस्युरदूषकम्॥
kośa-saṅgrahaṇe yuktā balasya ca parigrahe
ahitaṁ vāpi puruṣaṁ na vihiṁsyur adūṣakam
kośa-saṅgrahaṇe = in accumulating funds for the royal treasury; yuktāḥ = they were attentive; balasya = the fourfold army; ca = and; parigrahe = in maintaining through grants; ahitam = was an enemy; vā api = even if; puruṣam = man; na = not; vihiṁsyuḥ= they would harm; adūṣakam = an offenseless.
They were attentive in accumulating funds for the royal treasury and in maintaining the fourfold army through grants. They would not harm an offenseless man even if he was an enemy.
