Chapter 7: King Daśaratha’s Ministers
Text 1.7.23
स शशास जगद्राजा दिवं देवपतिर्यथा॥
sa śaśāsa jagad rājā divaṁ deva-patir yathā
sah = the; śaśāsa = ruled over; jagat = the earth; rājā = king; divam = rules over the heaven; deva-patiḥ = the Lord of the devas; yathā = just as.
The king ruled over the earth just as the Lord of the devas rules over the heavens.
The author now gives an example to illustrate his description of King Daśaratha.
