Chapter 7: King Daśaratha’s Ministers
Text 1.7.24

तैर्मन्त्रिभिर्मन्त्रहिते नियुक्तैर्वृतोऽनुरक्तैः कुशलैः समर्थैः।
स पार्थिवो दीप्तिमवाप युक्तस्तेजोमयैर्गोभिरिवोदितोऽर्कः॥

tair mantribhir mantra-hite niyuktair
vṛto ’nuraktaiḥ kuśalaiḥ amarthaiḥ
sa pārthivo dīptim avāpa yuktas
tejomayair gobhir ivodito ’rkaḥ

taiḥ mantribhiḥ = ministers; mantra-hite = in beneficial counsel; niyuktaiḥ = engaged; vṛtaḥ = surrounded; anuraktaiḥ = attached to him; kuśalaiḥ = by intelligent and expert; samarthaiḥ = and competent to carry out their duties; saḥ = the; pārthivaḥ = king; dīptim = splendorous; avāpa = became; yuktaḥ = endowed; tejomayaiḥ = with its brilliant; gobhiḥ = rays; iva = like; uditaḥ = the rising; arkaḥ = sun.

Surrounded by intelligent and expert ministers attached to him, engaged in beneficial counsel and competent to carry out their duties, the king became splendorous like the rising sun endowed with its brilliant rays.
