Chapter 7: King Daśaratha’s Ministers
Text 1.7.4
ऋत्विजौ द्वावभिमतौ तस्यास्तामृषिसत्तमौ।
वसिष्ठो वामदेवश्च मन्त्रिणश्च तथापरे॥
ṛtvijau dvāv abhimatau tasyāstām ṛṣi-sattamau
vasiṣṭho vāmadevaś ca mantriṇaś ca tathāpare
ṛtvijau = his chief priests; dvau = two; abhimatau = chief; tasya = his; āstām = were; ṛṣi-sattamau = the best of sages; vasiṣṭhaḥ = Vasiṣṭhaḥ; vāmadevaḥ = Vāmadevaḥ; ca = and; mantriṇaḥ ca = ministers; tathā = too; apare = as enlisted below.
Vasiṣṭha and Vāmadeva, the two best of sages, were his chief priests. There were other ministers too, as enlisted below.
