dātṛ-pratigrahītṛbhyāṁ sarvārthāḥ prabhavanti hi
sva-dharmaṁ pratipadyasva kṛtvā vaivāhyam uttamam
dātr-pratigrahītṛbhyām = this combination of the donor and recipient; sarva-arthāḥ = that the activities of giving and receiving and so on; prabhavanti = can flourish; hi = it is only by; sva-dharmam = your dharma; pratipadyasva = fulfill; kṛtvā = by conducting; vaivāhyam uttamam = this excellent wedding.
It is only by this combination of the donor and recipient that the activities of giving and receiving and so on can flourish. Fulfill your dharma by conducting this excellent wedding.
Vasiṣṭha instructed King Janaka to fulfill his dharma by fulfilling his promise [that he would give his daughters to Daśaratha’s sons in marriage].
