Chapter 73: The Grand Wedding of Sītā and Rāma
Text 1.73.14

इत्युक्तः परमोदारो वसिष्ठेन महात्मना।
प्रत्युवाच महातेजा वाक्यं परमधर्मवित्॥

ity uktaḥ paramodāro vasiṣṭhena mahātmanā
pratyuvāca
mahā-tejā vākyaṁ parama-dharmavit

iti uktaḥ = being thus addressed; parama-udāraḥ = King Janaka was extremely liberal; vasiṣṭhena = Vasiṣṭha; mahā-ātmanā = by the great soul; pratyuvāca = he replied; mahā-tejāḥ = of great prowess; vākyam = in the following words; parama-dharmavit = and supremely aware of his dharma.

King Janaka was extremely liberal, of great prowess and supremely aware of his dharma. Being thus addressed by the great soul Vasiṣṭha, he replied in the following words.
