Chapter 75: The History of the Bows of Lord Śiva and Lord Viṣṇu

धनू रुद्रस्तु सङ्क्रुद्धो विदेहेषु महायशाः।
देवरातस्य राजर्षेर्ददौ हस्ते ससायकम्॥
dhanū rudras tu saṅkruddho videheṣu mahā-yaśāḥ
devarātasya rāja-rṣer dadau haste sasāyakam
dhanuḥ = his bow; rudraḥ = Rudra; tu = however; saṅkruddhaḥ = the angry; videheṣu = in the country of Videha; mahā-yaśāḥ = of great fame; devarātasya = Devarāta; rāja-rṣeḥ = of the saintly king; dadau = gave away; haste = to the hands; sasāyakam = and arrows.
The angry Rudra of great fame, however, gave away his bow and arrows to the hands of the saintly King Devarāta in the country of Videha.
