Chapter 76: Lord Rāma Strings Lord Viṣṇu’s bow
Text 1.76.13

तेजोऽभिहतवीर्यत्वाज्जामदग्न्यो जडीकृतः।
रामं कमलपत्राक्षं मन्दं मन्दमुवाच ह॥

tejo-’bhihata-vīryatvāj jāmadagnyo jaḍī-kṛtaḥ
rāmaṁ
kamala-patrākṣaṁ mandaṁ mandam uvāca ha

tejaḥ-abhihata-vīryatvāt = because his prowess was taken away by Rāma’s prowess; jāmadagnyaḥ = the son of Jamadagni; jaḍī-kṛtaḥ = became stunned; rāmam = to Rāma; kamala-patrākṣam = whose eyes resembled the petals of a lotus; mandam mandam = slowly; uvāca ha = he spoke as follows.

Because his prowess was taken away by Rāma’s prowess, the son of Jamadagni became stunned. Slowly, he spoke as follows to Rāma whose eyes resembled the petals of a lotus.

Paraśurāma answered Rāma’s question slowly.
