Chapter 76: Lord Rāma Strings Lord Viṣṇu’s bow
Text 1.76.11-12

gandharvāpsarasaś caiva siddha-cāraṇa-kinnarāḥ
yakṣa-rākṣasa-nāgāś
ca tad draṣṭuṁ mahad adbhutam

jaḍī-kṛte tadā loke rāme vara-dhanurdhare
nirvīryo
jāmadagnyo ’sau rāmo rāmam udaikṣata

gandharva apsarasaḥ ca eva = gandharvas, apasarās; siddha-cāraṇa-kinnarāḥ = siddhas, cāraṇas, kinnaras; yakṣa-rākṣasa-nāgāḥ ca = yakṣas, rākṣasas and the serpents; tat draṣṭum mahat adbhutam = [came to see this great wonder]; jaḍī-kṛte tadā loke = and made the world stunned; rāme vara-dhanurdhare = when Rāma held that excellent bow; nirvīryaḥ = now bereft of his strength; jāmadagnyaḥ = the son of Jamadagni; asau rāmaḥ = Paraśurāma; rāmam = at Rāma; udaikṣata = looked in wonder.

Gandharvas, apasarās, siddhas, cāraṇas, kinnaras, yakṣas, rākṣasas and the serpents came to see this great wonder. When Rāma held that excellent bow and made the world stunned, Paraśurāma, the son of Jamadagni, now bereft of his strength, looked at Rāma in wonder.

Paraśurāma now became bereft of his strength, that is, bereft of his prowess from Lord Viṣṇu. That is stated elsewhere, in a Purāṇa:

tataḥ paraśurāmasya dehān nirgatya vaiṣṇavam
paśyatāṁ
sarva-devānāṁ tejo rāmam upāviśat

“Then, while all the devas were watching, Viṣṇu’s prowess came out of Paraśurāma’s body and entered into Rāma.”
